Formula
Combined Odds = Leg 1 × Leg 2 × … × Leg N (in decimal format)
Total Payout = Wager × Combined Odds
Profit = Total Payout - Wager
A push (tie) removes that leg from the parlay and reduces it by one leg.
Frequently Asked Questions
Define a parlay bet.
A parlay (also termed an accumulator) folds several selections into one wager. All selections must win for a payout. Odds multiply across legs, producing higher potential payouts.
What if a leg pushes?
A push (tie) drops that leg from the parlay. A 4-leg parlay carrying one push collapses to a 3-leg parlay. The pushed leg counts as odds of 1.0.
What if a leg loses?
If any leg loses, the entire parlay loses. That is the parlay’s risk — every leg must win (or push) for any payout.
Are parlays profitable over the long run?
Parlays carry a steeper house edge than individual bets, since the bookmaker margin compounds leg by leg. They’re high-risk, high-reward instruments, best deployed selectively.
